Dhaka: Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) specialized batting coach Julian Wood has commenced his work with the Bangladesh Women’s team to enhance their power-hitting skills. He is currently training 20 women cricketers in a camp focused on improving their ability to generate power, particularly for T20 cricket.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Wood’s engagement with the women cricketers is set to continue for a few more days before he shifts his focus to the male cricketers. The BCB aims to address the noticeable gap in power-hitting capabilities that has placed both male and female cricketers behind their international counterparts, especially in executing big shots.
Power-hitting has become a crucial element in T20 cricket, and the BCB is determined to enhance these skills to achieve better outcomes in international T20 matches and domestic competitions. Despite some individual progress among younger members of the national team, the collective performance of the Tigers in power-hitting remains subpar, prompting the appointment of Wood, a renowned coach in this area.
In addition to his work with the players, Wood also led a workshop on power-hitting with senior BCB coaches in attendance, further emphasizing the importance of this skill development within the cricket board.
