Rajshahi: Tight security measures have been adopted here and in its adjacent areas centering the Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival of the Muslims, to make the celebration a total success. Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) has set up several Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras at various strategic points to monitor the security arrangements for city dwellers.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, sources from RMP and district police have confirmed that additional security measures will be in place from the day before Eid and continue for the next three days. Muhammad Abu Sufiyan, Commissioner of RMP, mentioned that all police stations and camps have been instructed to ensure extra security at all celebration points, including Eid congregations. In addition to deploying additional forces, detective vigilance has been increased at the busiest market points and shopping malls.

All entry points of the city, such as Katakhali, Nawdapara, and Kasiadanga, are under tight security measures with strong vigilance and monitoring. Instructions have been issued to search suspicious persons during the celebration period. RMP Chief Abu Sufiyan stated, “We will watch the movement of people in the residential hotels.”

RAB-5 has also implemented extensive security measures to ensure the festival’s success. Meanwhile, the Shahmukhdum Central Eid Jamaat Committee, Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC), and other stakeholders have organized elaborate programs to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with fervor, joy, and enthusiasm.

The preparations in the city have been completed under the auspices of the Rajshahi district administration, Metropolitan Police, and other religious organizations for a peaceful celebration. RCC has finalized arrangements to hold 85 Eid congregations at different venues across the city and its 30 wards under the supervision of respective officials. Various voluntary organizations have prepared over 60 congregation structures for Eid-ul-Fitr, both traditional and temporary, to ensure successful Eid gatherings. RCC is also facilitating necessary decoration arrangements for around 50 Eid jamaats.

To mark the celebration, special diets will be served to inmates of various hospitals, jails, and Government Shishu Sadan.
