Ghior Upazila: A woman was killed and two others, including her son, were injured by a thunderbolt last evening at the Shaingjuri area of Ghior Upazila of the district. The deceased was identified as Surja Maya Rani, 40, wife of Jogesh Sarkar of village Shaingjuri under Baliakhora union of Ghior upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, family and locals reported that Surja Maya went to cut grass for her cows along with her son Badhan, 10, and neighbor Maya Rani in a field near their house. Suddenly, a thunderbolt struck them, leaving all of them wounded.
The locals rushed them to Monno Medical College hospital, where the duty doctor declared Surja Maya dead. Her son and the other wounded individual were admitted to the hospital for treatment.
The chairman of Baliakhora Union, Md. Abdul Awal, confirmed the incident and assured that all necessary medical assistance would be provided to the victims.
