Thrust on Collaborative Efforts to Promote Business Sector in Rajshahi.

RAJSHAHI: Collaborative efforts of all government and non-government entities concerned can be the best way of promoting the business sector in the region for strengthening its economic condition. Investment in the existing potential sectors is also important for generating new entrepreneurs and employment opportunities side by side with improving the living and livelihood conditions of people.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, government officials and business leaders made these observations during a seminar on the promotion of trade and business in Rajshahi. The event, held at the conference hall of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industries (RCCI), featured Commissioner of Rajshahi division and administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation Dr Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir as the chief guest, with RCCI President Masudur Rahman presiding.

Several key figures addressed the seminar, including Deputy Director of Fire Service and Civil Defense Naimul Ahsan Bhuiyan, Deputy Inspector General of the Departme
nt of Inspection for Factories and Establishment Jahangir Alam, Assistant Director of the Department of Environment Kabir Hossain, and Deputy Chief Boiler Inspector Engineer Nazrul Islam.

Dr Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir emphasized the importance of providing entrepreneurs with need-based training and access to bank loans to foster the creation of new businesses. He urged stakeholders to devise strategies to boost investment across potential sectors.

RCCI President Masudur Rahman highlighted existing challenges in setting up local enterprises and called for cooperation from relevant authorities to advance the industrial sector. He discussed various topics, including trade and business, industry, agriculture, power supply, import and export, SME development, and bank interest rates.

The potential of the silk industry and the establishment of agro-processing industries were highlighted as areas where business promotion organizations could provide financial and technical support. The chamber leader noted that
surplus production in agriculture, particularly vegetables and seasonal fruits, could be more effectively utilized through the development of agro-based export-processing zones in the region.
