Rajshahi: The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has penalized two cosmetics shops in Charghat Upazila here for selling substandard and banned products. A mobile court, led by Executive Magistrate Rahatul Karim Mijan, conducted a raid in the area and found Shimul Prosadhani and Jewel Cosmetics and Hasina Store guilty of the violations.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the court imposed fines of Tk 6,000 and Tk 4,000 on the respective shops. Additionally, banned cosmetics worth approximately Tk 10,000 were seized during the drive.
BSTI Officer Engineer Zunayed Ahmed informed BSS that similar drives will continue in the future to protect public health and ensure consumer safety.
