Narayanganj: Three members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) sustained injuries after being attacked during an anti-drug operation in the Masdair Bazar Boyalia Khal area of Narayanganj. The incident occurred in broad daylight around 1pm on Tuesday.
According to United News of Bangladesh, two of the injured RAB members, Mahi and Ibrahim, are currently receiving treatment at Narayanganj Sadar General Hospital. Sub-Inspector Najibul, who suffered critical injuries, has been transferred to Dhaka for advanced medical care.
Following the attack, RAB-11 Battalion Commander Lt Col HM Sazzad Hossain visited the hospital with additional forces to assess the situation and check on the injured personnel. A subsequent operation was carried out at the site of the attack. Details of the incident have yet to be disclosed to the media, with Lt Col Sazzad stating that a briefing will be provided at a later time.
Locals reported that the attack occurred when the RAB members were in the area collecting information as part of their ongoing anti-drug efforts. Additional Superintendent of Police (A-Circle) Hasinuzzaman confirmed the incident, stating that the RAB personnel were attacked while gathering intelligence in the area.
