Three More Children Die of Measles-Like Symptoms Across the Country

Dhaka: Three more children have succumbed to measles-like symptoms nationwide in the last 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). During the same period, 980 new suspected measles cases emerged, increasing the total suspected cases from March 15 to June 9 to 81,084.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, 54 new measles cases were confirmed through laboratory testing in the last 24 hours, bringing the confirmed case count to 9,833 since mid-March. Since March 15, a total of 66,170 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country, with 62,292 patients having recovered and been discharged.

While no new deaths from confirmed measles were reported in the past 24 hours, the total number of deaths from confirmed cases remains at 92 as of June 9. However, three additional deaths linked to suspected measles have been reported, raising the total number of deaths among suspected cases to 539 since March 15.

The Dhaka Division has reported the highest number of suspected measles infections, with 37,798 individuals displaying symptoms. Of these, 6,822 cases have been confirmed as measles.
