Dhaka: Health officials today said they recorded 912 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts, killing at least three persons in the past 24 hours. "We recorded deaths of three dengue patients in 24 hours ending at 8 am today," a spokesman of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said adding his office simultaneously recorded 912 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts during the same period.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the DGHS statistics show that all three deaths occurred within the jurisdiction of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC). The data further revealed that, out of the 912 new cases, 138 patients were hospitalized in Barishal division, 151 in Chattogram division, 130 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, and 131 in DSCC. Additionally, 194 cases were recorded in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 72 in Khulna division, 88 in Rajshahi division, three in Rangpur division, and five in Sylhet division.
Since the start of the dengue outbreaks, Bangladesh has witnessed 318 deaths, with the disease affecting a total of 80,634 individuals. In comparison, last year's dengue epidemic claimed 575 lives and infected 101,214 people across the country.
