Teenager Arrested with Heroin in Rajshahi, Boat Seized

Rajshahi: Police arrested a teenager, Jihan Mobarok, 17, with one kilogram of heroin during a raid in Godagari Upazila in the district. An engine-powered boat used to transport the drugs was also seized.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, police revealed that the estimated market value of the recovered heroin is around Tk 1 crore. However, Jihan’s accomplice, Nasir Uddin, 53, managed to escape during the operation, evading capture. Both Jihan and the absconding Nasir Uddin are residents of Kathalbariya village in Godagari Upazila.

Police reported that around 10:30 PM on Thursday, a team from Godagari Model Police Station was conducting a routine anti-narcotics operation in the area. Acting on secret information, they raided the river ferry ghat in the Bidirpur area of Matikata Union in the upazila. During the raid, two individuals attempted to flee from a small dinghy boat anchored at the riverbank. A search of a yellow polythene bag in Jihan’s possession led to the recovery of one kilogram of heroin.

Additionally, police seized an engine-powered boat, approximately 23 feet long, used for transporting the drugs. Following the incident, SI Md. Rezaul Karim of Godagari Model Police Station filed a case as the plaintiff, naming Jihan and the absconding Nasir Uddin as accused.

Police sources also disclosed that there is already a previous case against the fugitive Nasir Uddin under the Special Powers Act from 2015. Efforts to arrest the fugitive accused continue.
