Dhaka: A cleanliness drive involving children and adolescents was carried out in Gulshan-2 on Friday morning, aiming to promote a clean city and raise environmental awareness.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the initiative, organised by Gulshan Society, took place at the Lake Park area and adjacent roads, with the participation of students from various educational institutions alongside children and teenagers. The programme began at around 10 am and turned into a festive event due to the enthusiastic participation of young participants. Parents, teachers, and local distinguished persons were also present during the event.

Barrister Omar Sadat, president of Gulshan Society and the main organizer of the initiative, highlighted that such programmes would help build environmental awareness and self-reliance among children and adolescents. He also expressed hope that the initiative would foster a sense of responsibility towards the state and society, as well as patriotism among the younger generation.

He added that participation in such cleanliness drives would encourage children to be more conscious about waste disposal in their daily lives. Omar Sadat emphasized that the main purpose of the programme was to create social awareness, adding that the effort would be successful if others are inspired to take similar initiatives in their respective areas.
