TCB Launches Nationwide Mobile Truck Sales for Ramadan Essentials

Dhaka: The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will launch a large-scale mobile truck sales program across the country tomorrow, February 17, to provide essential commodities at subsidized rates for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan. The initiative aims to support low-income individuals during the fasting month.



According to United News of Bangladesh, a press release issued by TCB outlines the deployment of 450 mobile trucks nationwide. The trucks will operate in various regions, including 50 in Dhaka Metropolitan, 20 in Chattogram Metropolitan, and 15 each in seven other metropolitan areas. Additionally, five trucks will be deployed in each of the remaining 55 districts. The sales program will run for 20 days, from February 17 to March 12, 2026, excluding Fridays and public holidays. Approximately 3.5 million beneficiaries are expected to be served, with nearly 23,000 metric tons of goods available for purchase directly from these trucks.



The TCB has set fixed prices and maximum purchase limits for consumers. Edible oil is priced at Tk115 per litre with a maximum of 2 litres per consumer. Sugar is available at Tk80 per kg with a limit of 1 kg, lentils (Masoor Dal) at Tk70 per kg with a maximum of 2 kg, chickpeas (Chola) at Tk60 per kg with a limit of 1 kg, and dates at Tk160 per kg with a maximum of 0.5 kg.



In addition to the mobile truck sales, TCB will continue its regular distribution to 6.6 million Smart Family Cardholder families. These families are set to receive approximately 40,300 metric tons of goods in February and 33,000 metric tons in March. Prices for oil, sugar, and lentils remain unchanged for cardholders, and they will also have the option to purchase chickpeas at Tk60 per kg and dates at Tk160 per kg specifically for Ramadan.
