Dhaka: BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to the people of the country for the warm reception accorded to him upon his return home from London after a long 17 years. A press release issued today highlighted the massive gathering of people that stretched from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to the expressway known as the ‘300 Feet Road’, marking a historic and unprecedented turnout that turned the entire Dhaka metropolis into a sea of people.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the press release, signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed, stated that Tarique Rahman conveyed his gratitude to ordinary citizens, as well as leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated and associate organisations from Dhaka city and across the country who joined the reception. He also extended his thanks to representatives of various political parties and professional bodies for their presence.
The BNP Acting Chairman also expressed appreciation to members of the Army, BGB, RAB, Police, and other law enforcement and security agencies for ensuring that the reception programme was held peacefully and in an orderly manner. Additionally, he thanked journalists of all media outlets who were engaged in covering and disseminating news of the reception programme.
