Khulna: A total of 33 candidates from eight political parties have collected nomination papers in six parliamentary constituencies of Khulna ahead of the upcoming 13th national elections.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this marks a significant step as the region prepares for the electoral race.
In the Khulna-1 constituency, candidates from multiple parties have shown interest. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has nominated Amir Ejaj Khan, while Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh has put forward Krishna Nandi. Independent candidate and former Chhatra Dal leader Gobinda Halder has also collected nomination papers, alongside Jatiya Party’s Md Jahangir Hossain and Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) candidate Kishore Kumar Roy. Additionally, Jatiya Party Presidium Member Sunil Shubho Roy has entered the race under the banner of Sammilito Jatiya Jote.
The Khulna-2 constituency has seen BNP’s Nazrul Islam Manju and Jamaat’s Sheikh Jahangir Hossain Helal collecting nomination papers. Islami Andolan’s Mufti Aman Ullah, Khelafat Majlish’s Md Shahidul Islam, and BNP Khulna City unit general secretary Shafiqul Alam Tuhin have also joined the electoral fray.
In Khulna-3, candidates include BNP’s Rakibul Islam Bakkul, Jamaat’s Mahfuzur Rahman, and Islami Andolan’s Hafez Abdul Awwal. Sheikh Arman Hossain from the Nationalist Democratic Movement (NDM) and Khelafat Majlish’s FM Harun-Or-Rashid are also contesting, alongside independent candidates Abdur Rouf Mollah and Abul Hasnat Siddique.
For Khulna-4, nomination papers have been collected by BNP’s Azizul Bari Helal, Jamaat’s Md Kabirul Islam, and Islami Andolan’s Hafez Maulana Yunus Ahmed. Khelafat Majlish’s Maulana SM Sakhawat Hossain, Jatiya Party’s Syed Abul Kasem, and independent candidate ASM Azmal Hossain are also in the race.
In Khulna-5, BNP’s Ali Azgar Lobi, Jamaat’s Mia Golam Parwar, and BNP’s Shafi Mohammad Khan have collected papers. Mollah Mosharraf Hossain Mofiz, CPB’s Chitta Ranjan Halder, and Jatiya Party’s Shamim Ara Parveen have also declared their candidacies.
Finally, in Khulna-6, BNP’s Monirul Hasan Bappi, Jamaat’s Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, and independent candidate Asadul Bishwas have joined the contest for the upcoming 13th national parliamentary polls.
