Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has stood by the family members of July uprising martyred student Golam Nafiz. A delegation of Amra BNP Paribar led by the party's Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed visited Shaheed Nafiz's residence at Wireless Gate in the capital's Mohakhali today and enquired about the family members. They conveyed a message of sympathy to the family on behalf of Tarique Rahman, who is also the chief patron of Amra BNP Paribar. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi expressed criticism of the current government while addressing journalists. He stated that the fascist Sheikh Hasina government has not spared anyone, including children, teenagers, or youths. Rizvi accused the Awami League of establishing a one-family rule, ensuring that the words of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman were prominently featured in textbooks, overshadowing the contributions of others. He further claimed that the Awami League government has done everything possible to maintain its hold on power. Rizvi also mentioned that individuals like Benazir and Harun were created during the Awami League regime to target citizens. He assured that the sacrifices of martyrs like Nafiz would not be forgotten, as efforts would be made to build a democratic Bangladesh that upholds justice. The mother of Shaheed Nafiz demanded the trial of her son's killers and called for the declaration of a 'Shaheed Nafiz Square' at the location where Golam Nafiz was killed. The delegation included Amra BNP Paribar advisor Engineer Ashraf Uddin Bakul, member secretary Agriculturist Moksedul Momin Mithun, and members Masud Rana Liton, Mustakim Billah, Farhad Ali Sojib, Shakil Ahmed, Rubel Amin, and Shahadat Hossain, among others. Also present were Swechchhasebak Dal Vice-President Dr. Zahid, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Vice-President Dr. Touhid Awal, Joint Secretary Hasnain Nahian Sajib, and local leaders of Banani Thana BNP.
