Tarique Rahman Mourns Passing of BNP Vice Chairman Abdullah Al Noman

Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of the party’s vice chairman, former minister, and freedom fighter, Abdullah Al Noman.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, in a condolence message, Tarique Rahman highlighted Noman’s steadfast commitment to the people during national crises and his reputation as a respected national politician. Rahman recalled Noman’s deep confidence in the principles and ideals of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and his belief in the Bangladeshi nationalist philosophy.



Rahman emphasized Noman’s role as an uncompromising fighter who worked tirelessly to restore democracy in Bangladesh since the founding of BNP. He noted that Noman’s dedication to public service contributed significantly to the country’s development and progress, particularly during his tenure as a government minister.



Rahman further lauded Noman’s unique contributions as an organizer of the War of Liberation in 1971, which he stated would be remembered forever by the nation. He also acknowledged Noman’s acceptance as a wise, popular, decent, and humble politician.



Tarique Rahman remarked on Noman’s unwavering fight for freedom of speech and expression, emphasizing his commitment to Bangladeshi nationalism and multi-party democratic spirit. He expressed deep sadness at the loss of an idealistic politician and prayed for the eternal peace of Noman’s soul, extending condolences to the bereaved family and well-wishers.



Abdullah Al Noman, a veteran politician and organizer of the Liberation War, passed away at the age of 79. BNP Chairperson’s Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan reported that Noman fell ill at his Dhanmondi residence and was rushed to Square Hospital, where he was declared dead around 6 am.



Noman is survived by his wife, a son, a daughter, grandsons, granddaughters, and a large circle of relatives, friends, admirers, and political associates.
