Dhaka: BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has extended warm greetings to the Christian community in Bangladesh and across the world on the occasion of Christmas. In a post on his verified Facebook page, he emphasized the significance of Christmas as the biggest religious festival for Christians and expressed his wishes for happiness, peace, good health, and prosperity for Christians both domestically and internationally.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tarique Rahman highlighted the symbolic importance of Jesus Christ, describing him as a figure of forgiveness, mercy, and love for humanity, who was born on this sacred day. He pointed out that Jesus Christ’s message of harmony among people underscores that the essence of all religions lies in service to and welfare of humanity. Rahman stressed the necessity for people of all faiths, irrespective of religion or caste, to collaborate for the country’s welfare.
Rahman further elaborated on the global influence of Jesus Christ’s teachings, noting that a significant portion of the world’s population follows his religion and philosophy. He reflected on how historical figures have guided humanity towards truth and justice, inspiring people to abandon falsehood and strive for moral excellence. He asserted that Jesus Christ inspired his followers with the spirit of love for humanity.
He also mentioned that Christmas has evolved into a universal religious festival and praised Bangladesh as a land of communal harmony, where people of all faiths freely and joyfully observe their religious rituals. Rahman concluded by reminding people of Jesus Christ’s teachings on love, service, forgiveness, and justice, urging everyone to commit to eliminating hatred, malice, and anger, to establish peace and stability in society, and to oppose all forms of injustice and cruelty.
