Brahmanbaria: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman called upon the countrymen to stay united to counter the conspiracies of the cohorts of the fallen fascist Awami League (AL) government. He addressed this call while speaking virtually from London at the biennial conference of the Brahmanbaria district unit of the BNP at Abbasuddin Khan Model College, Ashuganj ground.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tarique emphasized that although the fascist AL government is no longer in power, its supporters remain active in the country. He urged the people to remain vigilant and united against these elements. Tarique highlighted the oppressive rule of the AL government over the past decade and a half, stating that citizens were unable to speak out due to fear. He stressed the need to restore public confidence in political parties.

Tarique Rahman discussed the potential for resolving issues related to parliamentary operations and tenure of the prime minister through dialogue. He warned against spending excessive time on discussions, which could delay the reconstruction of the state. He cautioned that the cohorts of the fascist regime are attempting to cause unrest under the guise of various movements.

In his address, Tarique urged BNP leaders and activists to play a responsible role in resolving differences through discussions. He asserted that BNP is capable of fulfilling the expectations of the people, as outlined in their 31-point charter of state reform, which includes rights to education and healthcare, tackling unemployment, and ensuring fair prices for agricultural products.

Tarique also addressed the issue of rising prices, emphasizing the need to prevent hardships for common people. He warned that internal conflicts within BNP could benefit the fascists. He criticized the lack of voting rights over the past 15 years and called for reforms in the electoral system and judiciary to expedite the country’s development.

The conference was inaugurated by BNP Vice-Chairman Barkatullah Bulu, who defended Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman’s rise to power as a result of a people’s revolution. He also credited Ziaur Rahman with establishing the labor market abroad and the country’s ready-made garments sector. Brahmanbaria District BNP President Advocate Abdul Mannan presided over the conference, with several BNP leaders addressing the gathering.
