Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman and Dhaka-17 constituency candidate Tarique Rahman has made a direct appeal to the voters of his constituency, identifying himself as a native of the area and seeking support as the 'Sheaf of Paddy' candidate. During his visit to the ECB Chattar in the capital, he emphasized his deep personal and familial connections to the locality.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rahman highlighted his roots in the area, noting that he and his family have a long history there. He addressed a roadside rally from a temporary stage in front of BJ Tower at ECB Chattar, part of his election campaign, urging local residents, including mothers, sisters, and brothers, to vote for the 'Sheaf of Paddy'.
Rahman pledged to transform Dhaka into a safe city, aiming to ensure that women and girls can move freely without fear, and that businesses can operate safely. He expressed his vision for Dhaka, stating that if the BNP forms the government with the people's mandate on February 12, he plans to create a clean and beautiful city where residents can breathe freely.
He also promised to develop 40 playgrounds in Dhaka for children to play and elders to walk. Additionally, he addressed the long-standing expectation from the area's residents to widen the road from ECB Square to Jasimuddin, assuring voters that he would fulfill this if elected.
Rahman concluded his speech with a humble appeal for votes in favor of the Sheaf of Paddy on February 12. Earlier, he arrived at the rally around 3:30 pm and was greeted by local residents with enthusiasm. The rally atmosphere was festive, with party leaders and activists chanting slogans in support of Rahman and the Sheaf of Paddy.
The rally drew a large crowd, with people gathering at ECB Chattar from the morning, carrying symbols of the Sheaf of Paddy and wearing themed t-shirts. Security measures were heightened by law enforcement agencies to ensure the event's safety.
Following his speech, Rahman planned to participate in rallies in five more parliamentary constituencies in Dhaka North. Over the next two days, he will partake in a total of 14 public rallies in Dhaka, marking the final phase of his election campaign.
