Jamaat Ameer Mourns Death of July Fighter Ashraful

Dhaka: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has expressed profound shock at the death of July fighter Ashraful, who passed away in the morning while undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of National Institute of Neurosciences Hospital.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, in a condolence message, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman stated, “On August 5 in 2024, during the student-people’s uprising at Mirpur-10, Ashraful was shot in the head. He was first treated in the country and later sent to Thailand for advanced treatment, where he remained in ICU for 14 months. After returning home on February 4 this year, he was admitted again at the ICU of Neurosciences hospital.”



Dr. Rahman’s message continued, “Today, he has passed away (Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un). I express deep sorrow at his demise.” He further highlighted that many July fighters are still under treatment in hospitals and their sufferings are ongoing. He emphasized that Ashraful is one of those who gave their lives and sacrifices for the new Bangladesh, and the nation will remember them with full respect.



Dr. Shafiqur Rahman concluded his message by praying for Ashraful’s forgiveness and acceptance as a martyr, while conveying heartfelt sympathy to his bereaved family and fellow fighters.
