Dhaka: Election Commission Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed today announced that BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his daughter Zaima Rahman have completed their voter registration formalities. The Election Commission (EC) is set to decide on their inclusion in the voter list during a meeting scheduled for tomorrow.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tarique and Zaima Rahman submitted the necessary forms, provided biometric data, and applied for inclusion in Dhaka Ward-19 under Constituency-17. The process involves verification of their fingerprints, signatures, and facial recognition data before National Identity Card (NID) numbers can be issued.
The EC Senior Secretary emphasized that although the registration process has been completed, additional time is required to finalize the remaining procedures. Tarique Rahman completed his registration at 1:18 p.m., while Zaima Rahman and Zubaida Rahman finalized theirs earlier in the day.
During the registration process, security measures were heightened, with the Army, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Ansar, and police deployed around the EC Secretariat and the Election Training Institute.
