Dhaka: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Zimbabwe, with notable changes including the absence of pace bowler Taskin Ahmed due to an injury. Taskin, who is currently undergoing rehabilitation for a left Achilles tendon issue, will not be available for the series as confirmed by BCB’s Senior Physician Dr. Debashis Chowdhury.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib has earned his first call-up to the Test squad, filling the gap left by Taskin. Tanzim, who has 28 appearances in white-ball cricket for Bangladesh, will make his red-ball debut in this series. Meanwhile, wicket-keeper batter Liton Das has been excluded from the squad due to his commitments with the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he will represent Karachi Kings for the full season.

The squad also sees the exclusion of Shahadat Hossain Dipu, Hasan Murad, and Shoriful Islam, who were part of the last Test series squad that traveled to the West Indies in late 2024. Veteran player Mushfiqur Rahim remains a key figure in the squad, despite his recent retirement from the ODI format after the Champions Trophy.

Zimbabwe is set to arrive in Bangladesh on April 15, with the first Test scheduled to commence at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on April 20. The second Test will take place at Chattogram’s Bir Shrestha Flight Lieutenant Motiur Rahman Stadium, starting on April 28.

The announced squad is as follows: Najmul Hossain Shanto (Captain), Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Shadman Islam, Zakir Hasan, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahidul Islam Ankon, Jaker Ali Anik, Mehidy Hasan Miraz (Vice-Captain), Taijul Islam, Nayeem Hasan, Nahid Rana, Hasan Mahmud, Syed Khaled Ahmed, and Tanzim Hasan Sakib.
