Dhaka: Opener Tamim Iqbal is all set to return to competitive cricket with the upcoming NCL T20 after passing the fitness test today. A few days ago, national selector Hannan Sarkar informed that Tamim needs to pass a fitness test to make himself available for the NCL T20, which is scheduled from December 11-23. To fulfill the criteria, he took part in a fitness test today and successfully passed it. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, after the NCL T20, Tamim will lead the defending champions Fortune Barishal in the BPL, slated to begin on December 30. Tamim, who is yet to retire from Tests and ODIs, last played competitive cricket in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL), the country's traditional List A tournament, in May this year. Like the NCL, the remaining seven divisions, except Mymensingh, will participate in the T20 version along with Dhaka Metro. Each team will face each other in the league phase. All matches in this phase will be held in Sylhet. Thereafter, the playoffs and final will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. Recently, the BCB unveiled the logo of the tournament at a local hotel in the city.
