Dhaka:Bangladesh spinners Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz have experienced a decline in the latest ICC rankings after their performances in the opening Test against the West Indies. The match, which Bangladesh lost by eight wickets, saw Taijul slip three places to 21st and Miraz drop two positions to 24th in the Test bowling rankings.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the form of these leading spinners is of concern for Bangladesh as they prepare to face the West Indies in the second and final Test in Sylhet tomorrow. The team is aiming to avoid a series whitewash.
In other news from the ICC rankings, Australia's fast bowler Mitchell Starc has reclaimed the top spot in the Test bowling rankings. Starc's nine-wicket haul in the third and final Test against South Africa in Cape Town allowed him to surpass South Africa's Marco Jansen, who managed only three wickets in the same match.
The victory of the West Indies over Bangladesh in the Mirpur Test also led to movement in the rankings. Justin Greaves advanced 12 places to share the 38th position in the Test batting rankings. Additionally, left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican climbed six places to 30th among bowlers, while Roston Chase moved up eight places to share the 23rd position in the Test all-rounders' rankings.
