DBA Expresses Gratitude to BSEC for Reopening BO Accounts

Dhaka:The DSE Brokers Association of Bangladesh (DBA) has expressed its gratitude to the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) for its decision to allow trading to resume in previously suspended Beneficiary Owner (BO) accounts.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the DBA issued a press release thanking BSEC Chairman Masud Khan, commissioners, and relevant officials for their decision, which is considered to be in the greater interest of investors and the country's capital market.

A total of 617 BO accounts had been suspended earlier, following requests from various government agencies and decisions by the commission. In response, the DBA submitted a written application to the BSEC chairman on July 20, 2026, advocating for the reopening of the long-suspended BO accounts where no legal restrictions or prohibitions were imposed.

Welcoming the commission's decision, DBA President Saiful Islam expressed sincere appreciation, noting that it would facilitate the trading of a substantial volume of shares that had been locked for a long period. This move is expected to enhance liquidity and trading activity in the capital market, encourage greater investor participation, and help restore investor confidence.

Moreover, the decision is anticipated to provide relief to stockbrokers and merchant banks involved in margin lending, enabling them to address prolonged financial and commercial challenges and resume normal business operations. It will also aid in strengthening the financial capacity and operational continuity of the concerned institutions, contributing to increased dynamism and effective participation in the capital market.

The DBA reaffirmed its commitment to working in coordination with the BSEC and other relevant stakeholders to implement government initiatives aimed at ensuring the development and stability of the country's capital market.
