Sylhet: Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury clarified on Thursday that the Dhaka-Sylhet-Manchester flight will not be canceled but instead its operation has been temporarily suspended to accommodate Hajj pilgrims. He made these remarks while delivering the keynote speech at an Iftar and reception organized by the Sylhet District Bar Association.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the minister stated that efforts are underway to resolve the issue permanently, expressing hope that visible improvements will be seen across the board within a year. He emphasized the need for regional development, stating that elected representatives are eager to work together for the growth of Sylhet. He is actively addressing issues related to road, rail, and air transport, with a special focus on preventing harassment and luggage-related problems at airports to ensure expatriates receive all necessary facilities.
The event saw various groups welcoming the minister at Osmani International Airport with floral tributes. He requested prayers from attendees, expressing hope that they can fulfill people’s hopes and expectations.
