Swift Justice in Ramisa Case Ensured Thru Active Role of State Machinery: AG

Dhaka: Attorney General Barrister Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal said that justice in the case lodged over the brutal rape and murder of child Ramisa was ensured within the shortest possible time due to the highly active role of all organs of the state machinery. He made the remarks while responding to journalists at his office after the pronouncement of the much-discussed verdict in the Ramisa rape and murder case.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Attorney General emphasized that the concerted efforts of the state machinery were instrumental in securing justice swiftly. “I think in Ramisa’s case, everyone in the state machinery played a very active role, which is why we have been able to secure justice for this brutal murder in the shortest possible time,” he stated.



The Attorney General further explained the procedural steps following the verdict. He noted that once the death reference from the trial court reaches the High Court, preparations for the hearing will commence. “We will try to ensure its hearing in the shortest possible time. In this case, a special directive from the chief justice may be required,” he added.



The Dhaka Metropolitan Children’s Violence Suppression Tribunal today convicted Sohel Rana and his wife Swapna Akter and sentenced them to death in the child Ramisa rape and murder case. They were also fined Taka five and two lakh respectively.
