Sylhet: Students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) have distributed blankets among cold-stricken poor and distressed people during the midnight hours. A total of 180 blankets were handed out in two phases with the assistance of the Sylhet district administration.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the blanket distribution began at 12:00am on Saturday, starting from the university's main gate and extending to the Temukhi point along the Sylhet-Sunamganj road. Around 30 blankets were distributed in that area, while 150 blankets were provided to the university's security staff and rickshaw pullers the previous day.
Faisal Hossain, the co-coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, mentioned that this year's winter has been harsher compared to previous years, making it challenging for underprivileged people to spend their nights. "With the support of the District Administration, we were able to distribute blankets to the poor, hardworking, and cold-stricken individuals. It gives us immense joy to contribute to their well-being," he said.
