Survi confesses involvement in Dhanmandi double-murder

DHAKA Housemaid Survi Akter Nahida today confessed

her involvement in the gruesome murder of a house owner and another maid in

capital's Dhanmandi area recently.

Investigation officer (IO) and detective branch inspector Robiul Alam

produced Survi before Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sorafuzzaman Ansari and

pleaded to record her confessional statement.

Accepting the plea, the court recorded her statement under section 164

and sent her to jail afterwards.

Earlier on November 5, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Morshed Al Mamun

Bhuiyan placed five people including Survi on five-day remand in the case.

The five accused are- housemaid Survi Akter Nahida, guard Nuruzzaman,

cleaner Gausul Azam Prince, personal staff Md Atikul Haque Bacchu and Belayet

Hossain.

Police on November 1, recovered throat-slit bodies of Afroza Begum, 65,

and her house help Diti, 18, from flat E-5 of house-21 on road-28 in

capital's Dhanmandi area. Afroza's daughter advocate Dilruba Sultana Ruba

filed the case with Dhanmandi Police Station on November 3.

The case was handed over to DB on November 4 for probing and a team of

DB south zone arrested prime suspect Survi from BNP Bosti area in capital's

Agargaon at around 6.30 pm on that same day.
