Supreme Court Legal Aid Provides Assistance in 3,400 Cases

Dhaka: The National Legal Aid Services Organisation (NLASO) has provided legal assistance in 3,400 cases through the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office, according to a report published on the organisation’s website. The report presents detailed information on legal aid services provided from 2009 to April 2026 under the government-funded legal aid program, an official said here today.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the report highlights that during the specified period, legal assistance was rendered in 458,108 cases through the legal aid offices located in 64 districts. Additionally, 4,640 cases received aid via the labour legal aid cells in Dhaka and Chattogram. In total, the legal aid extended across the country amounts to 466,148 cases.



Furthermore, the report underscores that legal consultation services were provided to 574,278 individuals at the expense of the government. Specifically, 27,167 people received assistance through the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office, while district legal aid offices and the labour legal aid cells in Dhaka and Chattogram assisted 320,753 and 22,153 people, respectively.



Moreover, the report indicates that 204,205 individuals benefited from legal advice through the national legal aid helpline call centre, accessible via toll-free number 16699. These services are offered under the Legal Aid Services Act, targeting financially insolvent and disadvantaged justice seekers throughout the country.



The NLASO has been operating under the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs since 2009.
