Dhaka: Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin announced that the supply of soybean oil is expected to stabilize within the next two days. “There is no shortage of daily necessities. The supply of soybean oil is slightly less. There is nothing to deny that. I hope the supply situation will improve from today,” he stated after inspecting the Mohammadpur Town Hall Raw Market in the city, as per a press release. Industries Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan was also present during the visit.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bashir responded to inquiries by explaining that only soybean oil is being sold at a higher price, while palm oil is available at a rate Taka 25 lower than the government-set price. He highlighted that palm oil makes up sixty percent of the country’s total edible oil supply, and its price has decreased whereas soybean oil’s price has risen. Bashir expressed optimism that the price of soybean oil would decrease soon.

Additionally, Adilur Rahman Khan addressed another query, noting that the Ban
gladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) is conducting mobile courts during the holy month of Ramadan to monitor product quality and prevent food adulteration. He mentioned that mobile courts have been active in four markets today. Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman and Industries Secretary Md Obaidur Rahman were also in attendance at the occasion.
