Dhaka: Sunnydale and Viqarunnisa Noon School and College emerged champions in their respective boy's and girl's section of the Tasmery Under-14 School Handball tournament held at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium on Monday. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, in the boy's section final, Sunnydale triumphed over Narinda Govt. High School with a score of 20-15. Meanwhile, Viqarunnisa Noon School retained their title by defeating Sunnydale 12-10 in the girl's section final match. In the place-deciding encounters, Saint Gregory High School secured third place in the boy's section by overcoming Nirjhor Cantonment Public School with a score of 23-14. In the girl's section, Shaheed Bir Uttam Lt. Anwar Girls College claimed third place by outplaying Shere Bangla Girls College with a decisive 16-4 victory. The finals were graced by International Master and renowned chess player Rani Hamid, who served as the chief guest and distributed the prizes. The prize distribution ceremony was presid ed over by Bangladesh Handball Federation general secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor. A total of twenty-eight school handball teams from Dhaka Metropolis, comprising sixteen boys' teams and twelve girls' teams, participated in the event. The tournament was sponsored by Tasmery Group and organized by Bangladesh Handball Federation.
