Kachua: Students will no longer be made to stand on roadsides to greet guests, as announced by Education Adviser ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon. The directive was issued during the prize-giving ceremony of National Education Week-2026 in Kachua upazila of Chandpur.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the education adviser strictly instructed that no teacher or educational institution should arrange receptions that require students to stand in the sun or beside roads. This instruction was given after the minister observed students standing by the roadside to welcome him on his way to the venue, which prompted his immediate dissatisfaction.

The minister emphasized that receptions causing hardship to students are unnecessary. He expressed his preference for moving around like an ordinary person, stating that no student should be kept waiting on roads for his arrival. He warned that it would not be acceptable if he observed such practices in the future.

Addressing the teachers, the minister urged them to ensure students are dismissed promptly and sent home. He also advised students to refrain from standing on roads under the sun to greet him, assuring them that he would visit schools to meet them instead.

After the ceremony, the minister engaged with students, discussing their studies and future aspirations. The event was attended by Kachua Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mahmudul Hasan Russell, Kachua BNP President Khairul Abedin Swapan, Officer-in-Charge of Kachua Police Station Md Borhan Uddin, officials from various departments, teachers, and local political leaders.

Earlier, the education minister distributed cheques to registered private orphanages and provided cheques and wheelchairs to the needy under a joint initiative of the upazila social welfare committee and the patient welfare association. In the afternoon, he participated in an iftar gathering with leaders of the Kachua primary education and market traders’ association.
