Dhaka: A school student died after being electrocuted in Subarnachar upazila of the district on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased was Md. Faisal, 17, son of Md. Yasin Bepari and a resident of Char Lakshmi village under Mohammadpur union of the upazila. He was a class 10 student at Char Clark High School.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the incident took place around 1:30 pm when Faisal came into contact with a live electric wire while working at his home. Noticing her son in distress, his mother rushed to save him but was also electrocuted after touching him.
Mother and son were taken to Noakhali General Hospital where the attending physician declared Faisal dead. His mother is currently undergoing treatment and is reported to be in critical condition.
Lutfur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Char Jabbar Police Station, confirmed the matter and said necessary legal action will be taken following any formal complaint regarding the incident.
