Dhaka:State Minister for Public Administration Md Abdul Bari announced that the government is striving to build a neutral, honest, and efficient civil service.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bari made these remarks at a certificate-awarding and closing ceremony for the 146th, 147th, and 148th Law and Administration Courses at the Bangladesh Civil Service Administration Academy.

Bari emphasized the government's commitment to institutionalizing democracy, warning that the rise of fascism could once again damage the civil service and the country's institutions. He noted that prolonged fascism had previously caused issues among government officials and led them away from their original objectives.

He clarified that the civil service's role is to implement government policies, not political agendas, and stressed the importance of integrity and neutrality. "There is no room for despair. The responsibility of building this nation lies with you," he stated.

Despite assuming office amid a fragile economy, Bari highlighted that the government has increased salaries for officials. He urged that the nation's progress depends on everyone performing their duties and reminded attendees of the sacrifices made during the July mass uprising to prevent the return of discrimination.

Bari concluded by urging a focus on honesty and efficiency at all levels of the civil service. The event was presided over by Dr Mohammad Altaf-Ul-Alam, Rector of the Bangladesh Civil Service Administration Academy, and attended by officials from various departments and wings of the ministry.
