Stalin Appointed DG of Shilpakala

Dhaka: Rezauddin Ahmed Stalin has been appointed as the Director General (DG) of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy for a one-year term. ‘Stalin will serve as Director General of the Academy for one year from the date of joining, subject to the condition that he will relinquish ties with other organizations,’ stated a gazette notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration today.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rezauddin Ahmed Stalin, born in 1962 in Nalbhanga village of Jhenaidah, has had a diverse career path that includes journalism and cultural activities. A graduate of Dhaka University, he published his first poem, “Shapath,” at the age of eight, and later served as deputy director of the Nazrul Institute.



Stalin has authored 45 poetry books and was honored with the Bangla Academy Literary Award in 2006 for his contributions to poetry. His work has been translated into multiple languages, showcasing his influence in literature beyond the Bengali-speaking community.



The position of DG at Shilpakala became vacant following the resignation of Syed Jamil Ahmed on February 28. Subsequently, Secretary of the Shilpakala Academy Mohammad Wares Hossain was appointed as the acting director general on March 4, 2025.
