Jatiya Sangsad Speaker, ministers, political leaders and vice-chancellors of universities, leaders of cultural and social organizations today expressed profound shock at the death of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's special assistant Mahbubul Hoque Shakil.
Shakil, also a former leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League, died of a cardiac arrest at a restaurant in the capital today at the age of 47.
In a condolence message, Jatiya Sangsad speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury said Shakil was a sincere and dynamic official. "He was a believer of War of Liberation spirit," she added.
The Speaker prayed for eternal peace of departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
In separate messages, Opposition Leader Begum Rawshan Ershad also mourned the death of Shakil saying that "Shakil was admired as poet and litterateur along with a politician."
Deputy Speaker Md Fazle Rabbi Miah and Chief Whip ASM Feroz also expressed the profound shock at the death of the Prime Minister's special assistant.
Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad also condoled the death of Shakil.
Public Administration Minister and Awami League presidium member Syed Ashraful Islam also expressed deep shock at the death of the former students' leader.
Information Minister and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal President Hasanul Haq Inu mourned his death saying that the country has lost a devoted "political worker" at his death.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique said, "Mahbubul Hoque Shakil was not only a political conscious but also an innovative cultural conscious personality".
Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Abul Kalam Azad expressed profound shock at the death of PM's special assistant Mahbubul Hoque Shakil.
In a condolence message, Azad, also the former Press Secretary to the Prime Minister, prayed for peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif, Jahangirnagar University Vice-Chancellor Professor Farjana Islam, State Minister for Land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, Information Secretary Martuza Ahmed, Land Secretary Mesbah-ul Alam, JSD general secretary Shirin Akhtar and Jatiya Party General Secretary Ruhul Amin Hawlader also mourned his death.
They prayed for eternal peace of departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
