Son Allegedly Hacks Father to Death in Narail Following Dispute

Narail:A tragic incident unfolded in Boyra village under Lohagara upazila in Narail district, where a 71-year-old man was allegedly hacked to death by his son on Thursday afternoon. The victim, Afsar Sheikh, was reportedly killed following a heated altercation over money.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the accused, 30-year-old Khairul Sheikh, who is alleged to have a history of drug addiction, fled the scene immediately after the incident. Family members disclosed that Khairul's addiction had been a source of frequent disputes within the household, eventually leading to his expulsion from the family home. However, Khairul returned home three days prior to the incident due to financial difficulties.

The altercation occurred around 100 pm when Khairul demanded money from his mother. Afsar intervened, advising against giving him money, which reportedly enraged Khairul. In a fit of anger, Khairul allegedly attacked his father with a sharp chopper, resulting in Afsar's death on the spot.

Officer-in-Charge Md. Shariful Islam of Lohagara Police Station confirmed that the body was recovered and sent to Narail Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Police efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing son, and a case is currently being processed.
