Paba: A 10-day long soft skills training session has commenced in Paba upazila, aiming to enhance the living standards of marginalized professionals by bolstering their skills and confidence. The training, part of the "Livelihood Improvement of Marginalized Professional Communities of Bangladesh (2nd Phase)" project, was inaugurated in the Upazila Parishad (UP) conference room by Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon, MP, who emphasized the necessity of adapting to modern market demands beyond traditional professional skills.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon highlighted that while generational professions remain the primary livelihood for many, the evolving market landscape necessitates more than just professional skills. The lack of soft skills such as communication, behavior, time management, and customer service has hindered these professionals from receiving appropriate valuation for their work and products. In response, the government prioritizes improving the living standards of marginalized communities through skill development and financial assistance initiatives.
The training workshop, attended by 30 professionals from 10 traditional trades such as blacksmiths, potters, cobblers, barbers, folk instrumentalists, Nakshi kantha artisans, and bamboo and cane product makers, focuses on imparting crucial soft skills. Participants will receive certificates upon completion, and each will be granted Taka 18,000 to support their professional development and living conditions. The program runs until September 24, under the organization of the Paba Upazila Social Services Office.
The workshop, presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ibnul Abedin and conducted by Upazila Social Service Officer Mohammad Hossain Khan, was attended by district BNP member Sheikh Maqbul Hossain, Paba Upazila BNP convener Ali Hossain, member secretary Abdur Razzak, joint convener Sultan Ahmed, and Nowhata Municipal BNP president Rafiqul Islam Rafiq.
