Khulna:Secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Dr. Mohammad Abu Yousuf, visited the Disability Service and Help Centre, as well as the Special School for Children with Autism, at the District Social Services Office.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during his visit, Dr. Yousuf inspected various activities and expressed satisfaction with their implementation. He emphasized the need for expanding services to the upazila level to provide greater benefits for persons with disabilities.
Dr. Yousuf remarked that individuals with disabilities should be considered an integral part of mainstream society rather than viewed differently. He noted that the government has increased facilities and support for them. The secretary also toured different sections of the District Social Services Office, including the mobile physiotherapy program and the marginalized artisans' exhibition and marketing center.
The visit was attended by Director of the Divisional Social Services Office Anindita Roy, Additional Director Ratan Kumar Haldar, Deputy Director Khan Motahar Hossain, Deputy Director of the District Social Services Office Md. Hossainur Rahman, and other officials and employees.
Later, Dr. Yousuf visited BN Ashar Alo School, a school for children with disabilities operated by the Bangladesh Navy in the Khalishpur area of Khulna.
