Border Guard Bangladesh in a drive today
seized 2.47 kilograms of snake venom worth around Tk 3 crore from Birampur
upazila of the district.
Captain of 20 BGB battalion lieutenant colonel Md Nahid Newaj said on
information a team of BGB conducted a raid in frontier Gobindapur area in the
upazila at around 11 am and seized the venom that was being smuggled to
India. The venom was preserved in two jars made of glass, he added.
No arrest was made during the drive as the smugglers fled the scene leaving
the two jars sensing BGB presence.
A case was filed with Birampur Thana.
