Six More Children Succumb to Measles-like Symptoms Across the Country

Dhaka: Six more children have died with suspected measles symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, increasing the total number of deaths from suspected measles to 936 since March 15. The situation continues to raise concerns among health officials and the general public.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the total number of deaths from confirmed measles and suspected measles cases has reached 1,036 since March 15, as per the report from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). In the past 24 hours alone, 1,239 suspected measles cases were reported, with the cumulative number of suspected cases since March 15 standing at 173,959.

The report further detailed that the number of confirmed measles cases in the past 24 hours was 77, bringing the total number of confirmed cases since March 15 to 20,201. Since March 15, a total of 153,279 people with suspected measles have been admitted to hospitals. Out of these, 147,386 patients have recovered and were discharged from hospitals.

While there were no deaths from confirmed measles in the past 24 hours, the overall number of fatalities from confirmed measles since March 15 remains at 100. Health officials continue to monitor the situation closely as they work to contain the outbreak.
