Sirajganj to get world’s first ‘digital dustbin’

The world’s first digital dustbin has been set up in the Mujib Road area of Sirajganj district town.

“An automatic digital dustbin machine was set up in front of Bhasani College in the town at the initiative of Municipal Mayor Syed Abdur Rauf Mukta,” our local correspondent reports.

The municipal mayor will officially inaugurate this digital dustbin within 2/1 days.

This device was invented by Mostafa Kamal Tara, editor of the local daily Jamuna Prabaha.

Mostafa Kamal Tara said that this is the first digital dustbin in the world, there is no such dustbin anywhere in the world. This dustbin will remove the stench of garbage and will change the image of the town, Tara said.

He said he would send proposals to city corporations around the world, including Japan and Taiwan, to install eco-friendly dustbins.

He also said this dustbin has been made on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh and the birth centenary of Sheikh Mujib. “It took about 6 months to prepare.

The machine was fixed at Tk 6 lakh with a 1-year guarantee and 4-year warranty, he said.

The municipality has ordered four more digital dustbins and will install them at several important locations in the city, he added.
