Silk Farmers Conference Unites Over 100 Cultivators in Boda

Boda: The silk cultivators and farmers conference was held at the Silk Expansion Centre at Sakoya under Boda upazila in the district today. Over 100 farmers from Boda, Panchagar sadar, and Debiganj upazilas participated in the event. Director General of Bangladesh Silk Development Board Dr. MA Mannan addressed the rally virtually as the chief guest.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, prior to the conference, a rally commenced from Sakoya Bazar and paraded through various streets. The conference was chaired by the Deputy Director of Regional Silk Expansion Centre Md Mahbubul Haque and included speeches from several notable figures such as Director of Bangladesh Silk Development Board Emdadul Bari, Project Director Mahbubur Rahman, Monitoring Officer Nasir Uddin, and Chairman of Sakoya Union Council Hafizur Rahman.



The silk expansion centre reported that there are 79,600 Mulberry trees spread over 43 gardens in the Panchagar district. In the district, 25 Polly houses are operational, and 77 individuals received equipment for Polly farming during the 2024-25 financial year. Over 100 farmers are managing 17,200 eggs, resulting in the production of 1,323 kilograms of yarn during this period. The current market value of this yarn is approximately Taka 65,000.
