Mongla: Members of the Coast Guard arrested eight individuals for their alleged involvement in robbery and drug peddling during separate operations across the district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a team of Coast Guard personnel conducted a raid in the Bhodhra Forest area of Mongla. During the operation, five individuals were apprehended along with 12 country-made weapons and nine yaba tablets. The arrested individuals were identified as Md Joni, 19, Md Aliraj, 25, Swapan Munsi, 40, from Mongla Thana, and Md Azim, 26, and Md Mezbah, 19, from Koyra Thana of Khulna district. Coast Guard officials reported that the suspects were allegedly preparing to commit a robbery on a ship.
In a separate operation, the Coast Guard detained Fatema, 50, Shahina Akther, 23, and Md Belal in the Kheyaghat area. They were found in possession of 2,576 yaba tablets, and a motorcycle was also seized from them. The apprehended individuals have been handed over to local police stations for further legal action.
