Sherif reiterates stance against land mafias

PABNA, Feb 11, 2017 (BSS)- Reiterating his stance against land mafias across the country, Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif today said the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will not allow them to keep any land under their possession illegally.

"The land mafias occupy public and private lands by preparing false documents. But the present government will not let them to keep land under their control," Sherif said.

The minister came up with the observations while distributing awards among the winners of annual sports competition of Ishurdi Government College.

Presided over by college principal Sheikh Anwar Hossain, the function was attended by superintendant of Pabna police Jihadul Kabir, Ishurdi upazila nirbahi officer Shakil Mahmud, Ishurdi upazila chairman MOkhlesur Rahman Mintu, among others.

"Militancy and drugs are the main obstacles on way to development in the country. Students have to take a stand against drugs, militancy and armed cadres as they did during Language Movement and War of Liberation," Sherif added.

Earlier in the morning, the minister inaugurated the newly built Shaheed Minar at Kalikapur Abdul Jabbar Memorial High School.
