Dumuria: A ‘Shaheed Zia Memorial Football Match’ was held on Friday afternoon at the Kharnia playground under No. 4 Kharnia Union in Dumuria upazila of the district. The event was organized by Ebadul Haque Rubad, convener of the Khulna District Unit of Jubodal, aiming to build a talented and health-conscious young generation by keeping them away from drugs, mobile phone and internet addiction.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, two local teams – Khulna XI and Kharnia XI – participated in the match amid great enthusiasm. Ebadul Haque Rubad scored a goal for his team. A large number of local residents gathered to watch the match.
After the match, Rubad emphasized the importance of sports for building a drug-free young generation, stating that sports can be a powerful tool for bringing about positive social change.
Former acting convener of Dumuria Upazila Unit BNP and member of Khulna District Unit BNP Sheikh Sarwar Hossain, Khulna District Unit BNP member Sheikh Hafizur Rahman, general secretary of Khulna District Unit Sramikdal Khan Ismail Hossain, and leaders of various affiliated organizations, among others, were present on the occasion.
