Chattogram:Dr. Shahadat Hossain has been appointed as the full-time administrator of the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC). This decision was announced by the City Corporation-1 branch of the Local Government Division.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the appointment of Dr. Hossain was made under Section 4 of the Local Government (City Corporation) (Amendment) Act, 2026. He will serve in this role until the City Corporation is formally constituted or further orders are issued.
As the administrator, Dr. Hossain will assume the powers and responsibilities of the mayor. His remuneration will include a monthly honorarium and other allowances as per the established regulations.
Dr. Hossain was a candidate for the Mayor's post in the CCC election held on January 27, 2021. He subsequently filed a legal challenge against the election results. Following a mass uprising in July, the court declared him the winner of that election on October 1, 2024. The Election Commission (EC) then issued a notification on October 8, 2024, officially declaring him as the Mayor of the CCC.
