At least seven shops were gutted in a fire at Dighinala Thana Bazar under Dighinala upazila of the district early hours of today.
The fire originated from an electric short circuit at a shop around 12.45 am and soon engulfed the adjacent business establishments, as a result of the fire, seven shops were completely gutted, said officer-in-charge (OC) of Dighinala Police Station Mohammad Ali.
Being informed, Fire Service and Civil Defense personnel rushed to the spot and doused the blaze with the help of locals and affected businessmen after one and half hours of frantic efforts, he added.
