Dhaka: The ACC today submitted a charge sheet in a case filed against a high official of the National Housing Authority for securing a job with a fake certificate and six others for their involvement with it.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the National Housing Authority official secured the job with a fake certificate and continued in service for 20 years. The case was filed on August 29, 2023, at the ACC Integrated District Office, Dhaka-1, as stated by Md. Akhtarul Islam, Deputy Director of the Public Relations Department of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The ACC revealed that Md. Delwar Hossain, an upper division clerk at the Rajshahi Circle of the National Housing Authority (NHA), had been serving in his position for two decades using forged academic credentials. Following an investigation, the ACC found evidence supporting the allegations and subsequently submitted the charge sheet.
The accused named in the charge sheet are Md. Delwar Hossain, upper division clerk at the National Housing Authority, Rajshahi Circle, Md. Harun-Or-Rashid, former Principal of Companyganj Badiul Alam Degree College, Md. Abdus Salam, former Chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Cumilla, A.K.M. Sahab Uddin, Deputy Secretary (Administration) of the same board, Syed Mokbul Hossain, former Section Officer of the board, Khandaker Akhtaruzzaman, former Chairman of the National Housing Authority, and Mosammat Nusrat Jahan, wife of the main accused Delwar Hossain.
The ACC pressed the charge sheet under section 32 of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004, and Rule 15(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Rules, 2007. The charges also include relevant sections (420/468/471/409/109) of the Penal Code, Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947, and section 27(1) of the 2004 Act.
