Mathbaria: A mobile court during a drive today sealed and fined different private hospitals and diagnostic centers in Mathbaria upazila of the district on charges of irregularities in medical services, storing expired medicines, and using faulty documents.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during the drive, two private hospitals and five diagnostic centers were fined Taka 61,000. Besides, seven diagnostic centers were sealed during the drive. The operation was led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md. Raisul Islam and was conducted in all the clinics and diagnostic centers of the municipality area on Sunday afternoon. Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Mathbaria Upazila Health Complex Dr. Ferdous Islam Prince was present during the operation.
Due to various irregularities in medical services, including expired medicines and faulty documents, the mobile court fined Taka 20,000 to the owner of Popular General Hospital and Diagnostic Center and sentenced him to 15 days in prison. Additionally, a fine of Taka 30,000 was imposed on the owner of Saudi Expatriate Hospital, who was also sentenced to 15 days in prison.
The court also imposed a fine of Taka 11,000 on the owners of Square Diagnostic Center, Ma Diagnostic Center, Healthcare Diagnostic Center, Siam Diagnostic Center, and LabAid Diagnostic Center each. The sealed diagnostic centers are Modern Diagnostic Center, Noor Diagnostic Center and Doctors, Apollo Diagnostic Center, New Jamuna Diagnostic Center, Icon Medical Center, City Diagnostic Center, and Saudi Expatriate Diagnostic Center.
